Background of the organisation

  • Maruleng FM was born in 2009 by the youth of Maruleng and formally instituted in 2012, broadcasting on air for the first time on 4th January 2016.
  • Maruleng FM is a legal entity and registered with the department of social development as non-profit organization. Maruleng FM was granted 5 years broadcasting license by (ICASA) in 2013.
  • Maruleng FM is broadcasting from D21 road on the entrance of Maruleng showground opposite Maruleng Thusong service centre.
  • Our signal coverage encapsulates among other areas as Our content is 60/40 ranges from education, health, entertainments, civic and current affairs, culture, gospel etc. and our target audience is all age groups.

VISION & MISSION

  • To operate an effective, sustainable and community owned radio that will advocate for the development within and around its footprint. To strive for visible and measurable community support and ensure that programming content reflects community demographics, needs and priorities.

OBJECTIVITES OF THE ORGANIZATION

  • Through community sound broadcasting We are aiming at contributing to the health and social wealth of our local community by providing access to a truly independent, community owned and run local radio station which will:
  • Create and improve access to local information, publicize community events and entertain the community.
  • Increase the sense of connectedness in our community between people of all ages, social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Provide a forum for engaging in discussion on issues of local, national and international importance.

The vision of the organization is enshrined within its PRINCIPLES WHICH ARE

  • Maruleng Community Radio shall have its primary focus on community development, particularly promotion of primary healthcare.
  • Maruleng Community Radio shall also focus on all social ills such as problems of social education, unemployment, poverty, youth, lack of entertainment, tribalism, racism and abuse of human rights in communities within its broadcasting footprint.
  • Maruleng community Radio shall not broadcast any material that promotes hatred, discriminate against an individual or a group on basis of race, sex age mental or physical ability or sexual orientation.
  • Maruleng Community Radio shall strive to be self-reliant to ensure that funders and commercials interest does not overlook its community responsibilities.
  • Maruleng Community Radio shall air material in a comprehensive, balanced, articulate context, while actively promoting local content and development.
  • Maruleng Community Radio shall refrain its involvement with any individual or a political party whom it believes that they want to use the radio to score their goals or promote hatred, discrimination against an individual or a group or class of individuals on the basis of race, religion, nationality or ethnic origin or colour, sex, age mental or physical abilities or sexual orientation.
  • Maruleng Community Radio pledge to practice to equal treatment to all people within and outside its broadcasting footprint in terms of participation in programming; however the programming department reserves the editorial rights.

1. MORNING BREAKFAST SHOW (06h00-09h00)

It is morning family program accompanying listeners to their various destinations, as they go about attending to their daily needs. The show is a fast paced, fun filled and humorous with meaningful links on music, talk, traffic reports, interviews on current issues on a lighter note and created features and sports.

2. RE SWARA THIPA KA BOGALENG (MAGAZINE SHOW)(09h00-12h00)

Music and information sharing on lifestyle, financial indicators, health, social, job creation and moral issues. The show is a mid-tempo and links and features are crafted in an educative and entertaining manner.

3. MID-DAY RAW RUSH (12h00-15h00)

Is a mid-tempo show filled with features that are set to keep the listeners engaged yet connected whether in the offices, in traffic, out of school or just pure listening pleasure, the show will make you listen up, with a calm music that keep your day energetic and with talk, entertainment news.

4. HD AFTERNOON DRIVE (15h00-18h00)

Afternoon drive show that seeks to drive listeners in inspiring, motivating, informing and keeping them up to date with current affairs, news, traffic, entertainment, sports and all things that will drive them to their destination.

Txalehono is a current affairs show which is aimed at keeping our listeners up to date with the current news happening across the country. From local to national it covers all the news which affect or has an impact in our daily life.

Sports circle is a show focuses on sports development, sport legendary, sport commentary, indigenous games and school sports, from local to national and international headlines.

7. BATHOPELE (19h00-20h30)

Bathopele is a show that keeps the community first, is well focused on the community needs not wants. This is the show that brings in guest from different department in the community from politics, nation building, social cohesion, rural development and poverty.

8. THUTO KE LESEDI (20h30-22h00)

Thutokelesedi is the educative show which is meant to help the community especially the learners or students who are still in their learning process, from strategies on how to pass, university life and bursary guidance etc.

9. SEBATAKGOMO (22H00-00H00)

Sebatakgomo is an adult shows which deals with the family related matters which affect the households. Presenter only talks about issues arising in the households which can help build and guide to resolve certain issues.

10. MONTSHEPETXA BOSHEGO (00h00-03h00)

The show targets the night shift workers including, security officers, nurses and drivers, through the programme employees such as security officers, domestic workers and cleaners have to respect their jobs through the information offered in the programme. The show is spiced up of bedroom politics that makes the night even young and the music to accompany the moods of the show.

Morning star in our culture is very important. When a person wakes up early in the morning is an indication that he/she is passionate about life. The show tax masa strives to offer information that is enriching in a lighter way. Issues discussed including health tips and commuter affairs.

Txamokibelo is show that seeks to bring in the energy and vibe to the listeners in inspiring, motivating, informing and keeping them up to date with entertainment, announcements, birthday shootouts and more music to accommodate them to start the weekend well.

19. BAETAPELE BAKAMOSO (10H00-11H00)

Just like the name, baetapelebakamoso simply means the leaders of tomorrow/future; it is a kid’s show which helps kids between the ages of 6 to 14 to exercise their knowledge of different issue that will help them to be the better leaders in the future. There is also fun games and music to accommodate.

This is a musical show which aimed to entertain our listeners who are indoors during the weekend in the night.

Battle of the DJs is a musical show which brings party to the households of our listeners, which the good music accommodating them throughout the night and morning. Ones and twos where different djs comes and mix live on the set.

This show heals with the good gospel and scripture to pass a message to the people. Full preaching will be given by the pastors.
